Parents are being urged to return the Anko Soft Activity Ball, a popular baby toy sold at Kmart and Target stores across Australia, following concerns about potential safety risks. The urgent product recall, issued by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), warns that the toy may pose a serious choking hazard to young children.

What’s the Issue?

The Anko Soft Activity Ball, which features rattles on two sides, has been found to contain plastic domes filled with small balls. These domes can separate from the soft toy, allowing the small balls to fall out. If a child places one of these small balls in their mouth, it could result in choking, which poses a severe risk of injury or even death.

Details of the Recall

  • Product: Anko Soft Activity Ball
  • Risk: Choking hazard due to small parts falling out
  • Sold at: Kmart and Target
  • Sales Period: August 3, 2024 – October 18, 2024
  • Action Required: Stop using the product immediately and keep it out of reach of children.

What Should Parents Do?

Parents who have purchased the Anko Soft Activity Ball are urged to take the following actions immediately:

  1. Stop using the toy. Remove it from children’s play areas and keep it out of their reach.
  2. Return the product. Customers can return the ball to any Kmart or Target store for a full refund.
  3. Contact Kmart Australia: For more information or assistance, you can call Kmart at 1800 124 125. Target Australia customer service phone number is: 1800 814 788

Why Is This Important?

This recall comes just ahead of the busy holiday season, when parents may be shopping for toys and gifts. With the potential risks involved, it is crucial to act quickly to ensure that no child is harmed. Safety is the top priority for parents and carers, and ensuring that toys are free from hazards is essential for the wellbeing of young children.

A Safety Reminder for Parents

While this recall is concerning, it serves as a reminder for parents and carers to regularly check the safety of baby toys. Always ensure that products are age-appropriate and regularly inspect toys for damage or wear that could pose a safety risk.

Parents should also be aware of any future recalls or safety notices by following updates from reliable sources such as the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC)
